What’s New in Scholarships

Thu, 02/19/2026 - 10:08

As high school seniors begin seeking out college scholarships, there is good news for students from Montauk and for those interested in pursuing degrees in health care.

In Montauk, the Fire Department has donated $360 to the Robert Fisher Scholarship, a $2,500 award for a Montauk School alumnus graduating from East Hampton High School. A pasta dinner to fund the scholarship raised the rest, but when it fell just shy of netting the total, the Fire Department stepped in to fill the gap. Anyone interested in contributing further to the scholarship can do so by sending a check to the Montauk School with “Robert Fisher” in the memo line.

The East Hampton Healthcare Foundation is now accepting applications for its 2026 Henry L. Murray Healthcare Scholarship, named in honor of one of the foundation’s founding board members, who died in 2025. The winner of this scholarship will receive $2,500 per year of study at a two-year technical school or four-year college. The foundation will give “special consideration” to students in the Board of Cooperative Educational Services’ nursing program who plan to work in the field in East Hampton Town when they graduate.

School guidance counselors have more details and applications. The deadline to apply is March 9. Donations to this scholarship can be made by contacting the foundation’s executive director, Sheila Rogers, at 631-324-8943 or [email protected].
