The Madoo Conservancy has announced the forthcoming publication of “Madoo: The Making of an American Garden.”

Coming From Madoo

The Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack has announced the forthcoming publication of “Madoo: The Making of an American Garden.” Coming in June from Timber Press, it was coauthored by Alejandro Saralegui, the conservancy’s executive director, and Kendell Cronstrom, the former editorial director of “Cottages and Gardens” magazines, and features photographs by the acclaimed photographer Tria Giovan.

“This book is like a ship in a bottle, capturing with miraculous clarity and containment a garden in full sail — a pocket rocket bursting out of a potato field in the middle of the Hamptons,” wrote Christopher Woodward, the director of the Garden Museum in London.

The book is available for pre-order for $45 from the Madoo website.

Jazz at the Temple

Jazz Night, the Sag Harbor Masonic Temple’s ongoing series, will return Friday evening at 7 with the Santi Debriano Bembe Sextet. Presented with Hamptons JazzFest, the performance will feature Mr. Debriano on bass, Mamiko Watanabe on piano, Ray Scro on baritone saxophone, Tommy Morimoto on tenor saxophone, Michael Cruse on trumpet, and Claes Brondal, the M.C., on drums.

Doors will open at 6:30 for food and drinks from the bar. Tickets are $20.

Call for Comedy

The 2026 Hamptons Comedy Film Festival, scheduled for May 16 at the Sticks and Stones Comedy Club at the Southampton Cultural Center, has announced a call for submissions.

Filmmakers from around the world have been invited to submit comedy shorts, features, television pilots, web series, sketch comedy, screenplays, and animation, through filmfreeway.com.

Since its establishment in 2000, the festival has featured such noted comedians as Ed Helms, Judy Gold, and Joy Behar, and been seen at Guild Hall, the Stephen Talkhouse, and the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center.

The deadline is March 2, the “absolute latest deadline,” March 31. The fees and other information can be found through the Film Freeway website by browsing for the Hamptons Comedy Film Festival.

Garden Double Play

The next round-table discussion of the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons, set for Saturday morning at 10 at the Bridgehampton Community House, will be devoted to “Welcome Spreaders and Self-Seeders or Unwelcome Invasives?” The program is open to all at no charge.

The discussion will cover annuals that will return next season by self-seeding; perennials that increase by self-seeding or other means; plants that are considered invasive, and which seedlings or plants are easy to remove, or difficult. The program will begin with a slide show, and a list of common self-seeders, spreaders, and invasives will be distributed.

A Zoom lecture about indoor greenery by C.L. Fornari, whose nine books include her latest, “Hydrangea Happiness,” will take place Sunday at 2 p.m. Attendees will discover how to make their houseplants thrive and learn the most common reasons for failure. Solutions to problems such as insect infestations and plants that have grown too large will be discussed.

Alliance members will receive a Zoom link via email. Nonmember tickets can be bought for $10 on the alliance’s website.
