Group Show at White Room

“Imagine,” an exhibition inspired in part by the John Lennon song of the same name, will open at the White Room Gallery in East Hampton on Saturday and continue through March 1.

“We wanted to begin the new year with an inspirational presentation, one that intrigues, engages, excites, and celebrates all that is possible if you literally put your mind to it,” said Andrea McCafferty and Kat O’Neill, the gallery’s directors.

The show includes figurative and abstract works by John Joseph Hanright, Elise Remender, Paul D. Fuentes, Sabeena Jindal, and Tanner Valant, as well as collection artists Russell Young, Nelson De La Nuez, Markus Klinko, Craig Alan, and Greg Lotus.

A reception will be held Feb. 7 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Barry McCallion’s book “Parowan Gap,” inspired by the petroglyphs in Iron County, Utah, will be on view at the Springs Community Library.

McCallion’s Artist Books

The Springs Community Library will open “Barry McCallion: Artist Books,” a weeklong show organized by Teri Kennedy, on Sunday, with a reception from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A longtime Springs resident now based in Greenport, Mr. McCallion brings literary narratives to life through a combination of fine art and written text, using a wide range of mediums and collages to enhance the impact of each piece. Driven by themes of social consciousness, he addresses such issues as extinction, pollution, and environmental protection.

The artist holds degrees in English Literature from Columbia University and in sculpture from Claremont Graduate University. His work has been shaped by extensive travel and artistic residencies in Berlin, Paris, New Zealand, and Australia.

Mr. McCallion will be present on Sunday from 1 to 3; on Monday, Tuesday, and next Thursday from 10 to noon; on Friday, Jan. 16, from 10 to noon and 1 to 3; and on Jan. 17 from 10 to 3 and Jan. 18 from 1 to 3.
