Sobel on Marie Curie

Dava Sobel, a Pulitzer Prize finalist and the best-selling author of “Galileo’s Daughter,” will be at the Southampton Arts Center on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m. for a presentation of her latest book, “The Elements of Marie Curie: How the Glow of Radium Lit a Path for Women in Science.”

The book illuminates the groundbreaking discoveries of Curie, the first woman to win a Nobel Prize and a trailblazer for women in science. It was named a best science and nature book of the year by The Guardian, whose critic Laura Spinney wrote, “[Sobel’s] short and well-paced book succeeds in dispelling the dust that clings to some accounts of this most famous of lives and makes it fresh again.”

After her talk, Ms. Sobel will sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase.

The free program has options for in-person or online attendance. Registration for each is on the arts center’s website.
