Musical Double Play

The music series at the Sag Harbor Masonic Club will feature two local vocalists this weekend, starting tomorrow evening at 7 with a performance by Anita Guarino. A Sag Harbor resident, Ms. Guarino’s current repertoire ranges from Ella Fitzgerald and Janis Joplin to Barbra Streisand and Linda Ronstadt. She will be accompanied on piano by Bill Cento.

Caroline Doctorow will take the stage on Saturday at 8 p.m. A champion of American folk music, Ms. Doctorow has released 11 solo albums, the most recent of which, “Dreaming in Vinyl,” reached number two on national folk radio airplay charts. She has received the Alexander Award from the Long Island Arts Council and an official New York State Proclamation honoring her work as a folk singer.

Tickets to each show are $20, part of which benefits local charities.

Foliage Plants

The next round-table discussion of the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons, set for Saturday from 10 until noon at the Bridgehampton Community House, will focus on foliage plants for indoors and outdoors.

Among the topics to be discussed are perennials that can be brought indoors as houseplants during the winter; plant varieties that are chosen for their leaf color; plants, such as Amsonia, whose size and texture become anchor plants for most of the year, and cacti and succulents with beautiful shapes and colors that can withstand some neglect.

The free program, moderated by Pamela Harwood, will begin with a slideshow of photographs. Questions and a discussion will follow.
