From the East End to Shanghai

Tue, 10/07/2025 - 13:01
Roy Nicholson's painting "Morning Glory" is now on view at the Eighth China International Expo American Art Fair in Shanghai.

Roy Nicholson, whose home and studio are in Sag Harbor, is one of several East End artists whose work is featured in “In the Footsteps of Jackson Pollock: A Dialog Across Time, Space, and Cultures,” which is on view in Shanghai through November as part of the eighth China International Expo American Art Fair.

Organized by the New York Fine Arts Society in St. James and the Sino-American Literary Exchange Association, the show includes Mr. Nicholson’s painting “Morning Glory,” an abstract evocation of flowers in his garden. The work is part of his “52 Weeks II” series, which is based on observations of plant life over the course of a year.

Among the other contemporary East End artists included in the show are Dan Welden, Charlene Ortiz, David Slater, Dominick Cantasano, Donna Corvi, Linda K. Alpern, Justin Greenwald, and Joyce Raimondo.
