Ashley Ford plays the title role in "The Ecstasy of Victoria Woodhull."
Whitney Shumaker

As a child, Victoria Woodhull supported her family as a traveling clairvoyant. Although she grew up to testify before Congress in support of women's rights, and, in 1872, was the first woman to run for president, she has since been largely written out of history.

"The Ecstasy of Victoria Woodhull," a one-woman play written by Theo Salter and starring Ashley Ford, will have two performances at The Church in Sag Harbor on Saturday and Sunday at 6:30 p.m., before heading to Edinburgh for the Fringe Festival there.

Ms. Ford plays both Woodhull and Celeste, a clairvoyant who brings back Woodhull's spirit to tell her story and restore her place in history. Tickets are $20.

Also at The Church, Hamptons Jazz Fest will present a concert by the Albino Mbie Quartet with Noah Preminger on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Really, really big.
