Adventures in Polar Research With Hamptons Observatory

In the next virtual talk presented by Hamptons Observatory, the noted polar explorer Ramon Larramendi will discuss his adventures in the coldest regions of the planet as well as his invention of the Inuit Windsled, which the observatory describes as "a mobile platform that is making possible scientific investigations into previously inaccessible areas."

Water Line Break Causes Major Flooding at East Hampton Village Businesses

A break in a water line discovered Sunday morning in East Hampton Village caused major flooding at a number of downtown businesses, including Tutto Caffe, Bonne Nuit, Valentino, and Gubbins. Efforts to pump out basements were stalled for nearly eight hours as PSEG struggled to shut down power to affected areas.

Katy's Courage Skate-a-Thon Is Saturday

A skate-a-thon and bake sale benefiting Katy's Courage, which offers children’s bereavement support and pediatric cancer research assistance in memory of Katy Stewart, will take place Saturday at the Buckskill Winter Club in East Hampton.

Highlights of the day include a children's hockey game at 12:15 p.m., a skating-skills workshop at 2:30, an open skating session from 2:30 to 5:30, and an ice show at 6:30. At 8, adults will take the ice for a hockey game (advance registration required). Raffle prizes will be on offer and baked goods will be sold.
