Accabonac Apartments Disturbance

Thu, 03/04/2021 - 08:58

On Tuesday at 4 p.m., East Hampton Town police responded to a domestic violence incident at the Accabonac Apartments on Accabonac Road, involving "a 49-year-old emotionally disturbed man and his parents."

Capt. Christopher L. Anderson, in a statement released that evening, said the incident "turned violent when the man began smashing numerous items in the apartment before attacking the couple." When police arrived, "the man barricaded himself while throwing objects at police from a second-floor window and threatening violence."

After officers tried without success to communicate with him, they called in the department's Emergency Services Unit, which "made entry into the apartment and took the man into custody." He was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital for evaluation.

"The investigation is continuing and criminal charges are forthcoming," Captain Anderson stated.
