It was 24 years ago today that the terrorist attacks on the Twin Towers drew first responders from across Long Island and the New York metropolitan area to Lower Manhattan. Many of them perished, and Thursday evening at 6 the East Hampton Town Fire Chiefs Association will hold a memorial service at the Hook Mill green to mark the day and the many losses that resulted.

A massive flag will be raised above the green while firefighters and ambulance personnel from the East Hampton, Montauk, Amagansett, Springs, Sag Harbor, and Bridgehampton Fire Departments gather below, along with East Hampton Town and Village and Sag Harbor Village police officers.
