It was 24 years ago today that the ter- rorist attacks on the Twin Towers drew first responders from across Long Island and the New York metropolitan area to Lower Manhattan. Many of them perished, and Thursday evening at 6 the East Hampton Town Fire Chiefs Association will hold a memorial service at the Hook Mill green to mark the day and the many losses that resulted.

A massive flag will be raised above the green while firefighters and ambulance personnel from the East Hampton, Montauk, Amagansett, Springs, Sag Harbor, and Bridgehampton Fire De- partments gather below, along with East Hampton Town and Village and Sag Harbor Village police officers.
