Raising Money for a Playground at the Y.M.C.A.

Thu, 08/07/2025 - 10:33

The Y.M.C.A. East Hampton RECenter has announced a fund-raising campaign with a goal of $15,000 to build a new playground on its property in the village. Molly Tuzil, the executive director, said the playground project emerged to meet local demand, as the facility has seen an “explosion” in membership this summer.

The playground is to be built at the indoor pool’s viewing area, which is outdoors, to provide a place for children to play while their siblings spend time at other RECenter programs. At present, Ms. Tuzil said, the viewing deck has only toys, but the plans would expand the area to provide a larger space to play.

Once the fund-raising goal is met, Ms. Tuzil said, the playground would take about two months to be built. The Y.M.C.A. is encouraging community members to contribute; Ms. Tuzil can be reached at 631-329-2479 for information on how to donate.
