The Ladies Village Improvement Society’s annual fair happens on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and this year’s “is bigger than ever,” the society says. Not only will the carousel be back, but the Playland area for kids will be expanded. There will be face painting, a roving magician, a bubble artist, and pony rides for the little ones.

For adults, the ever-popular booths returning this year include ones selling vintage clothing and jewelry, plants and flowers, and mystery wrapped gifts. There will be a chance raffle, live music all day, and bidding for a silent auction that went online a month ago and will conclude during Saturday’s festivities. Auction items can be seen at bit.ly/44Cp48q. Fairgoers can also expect hot dogs, food trucks, and sweet treats.

The fair helps the society raise money for its many good works here, including scholarships for graduating high school seniors and adults returning to earn degrees, and the care and maintenance of trees, the Nature Trail, village greens, and local landmarks.

This Time, the Treasure Was Personal

Jess Garay, an avid thrifter, is “always hunting for a treasure” when shopping for vintage clothing. But earlier this month in Amagansett, she found one she is sure she will never be able to top: a jersey that had belonged to her late cousin, who died at 24.
