The New York State Council on the Arts has awarded LTV, East Hampton Town's public access television provider, $99,000 to support a capital project that focuses on roof repair for its Wainscott studios.
The grant is part of more than $86 million in funding announced by the arts council for 134 projects across the state.
LTV Studios' building is almost 40 years old. A recent examination showed that the roof, although safe and with no structural issues, is in need of general repairs and renovation. “It’s a flat metal roof that is 40 feet off the ground with no inside access,” according to Michael Clark, LTV’s executive director. “It’s a big building and a bigger job, but it obviously has to be done."
As of May 21, LTV has raised $8,680 toward the roof repair through a GoFundMe campaign. With the state grant, "we are headed in the right direction," Mr. Clark said. "We are incredibly grateful for the support.” Those interested in making a donation toward the roof repair can do so at gofundme.com/f/LTVnewroof.
“Our arts and culture sector is a powerhouse, inspiring the world with innovation and creativity,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “By investing in our museums, our theaters and our arts centers, we enrich our communities, strengthen local economies, and improve tourism all over the state.”
