Bonac Footballers Beat Bulls

Thu, 10/29/2026 - 10:14

“You know how every team has a spark or an edge or an attitude or a defining moment that lets them know what kind of team they are? I feel as if this game was that moment for our team,” Jaron Greenidge, Bonac’s head football coach, said this week after the team’s win against Smithtown West on Friday.

With only a 37-percent chance of beating the Bulls, the Bonackers pulled out a 39-25 win.

Coach Greenidge called out the team’s offensive linemen specifically, saying their efforts led to almost 300 yards rushing on the day.

Jack Kamimura, a senior linebacker and running back from Pierson, scored three times for Bonac, one of his touchdowns an interception he returned 20 yards. He recorded 84 yards on six rushes.

Also leading the way, once again, were the Jacksons — Ronick and Carney. Ronick, a senior middle linebacker and fullback, had 187 yards and two rushing touchdowns. Carney, a cornerback and wide receiver, scored with a 97-yard kick return.

The team’s coaches focused on staying in a winning headspace. “We motivated the boys to not listen to the noise, not listen to any analyst and control their own destiny and get the job done,” Coach Greenidge said, adding that all the coaches — Ryan Lubatkin, the offensive coordinator, Jason Menu, the offensive and defensive line coach, and Kelly McKee, the assistant coach — put in tremendous effort for the win.

The boys play their final home game on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the high school against Rocky Point.
