Bonac Girls Track

Ava Engstrom, Mimi Fowkes, and Penelope Greene of East Hampton High’s girls winter track team did well at the Jim Howard Invitational meet at Suffolk Community College-Brentwood Sunday, with Engstrom placing third in the 3,000-meter race in a season-best 11 minutes and 17.09 seconds, Fowkes placing third in the 1,500-meter racewalk in 8:25.07, a season best, and with Greene placing sixth in her 1,000 debut in 3:22.81. Greene’s 5:05 in the 1500 meters was good for third place. 

Two days before, at the Zeitler Relays, Greene, Bella Espinoza, Hanna Medler, and Engstrom placed second in League IV’s distance medley relay (1,200, 400, 800, and 1,600) in a school-record 13:50.71. Fowkes, who did not have a partner, was the third finisher in the league’s racewalk in 8:44.93, a season best.

In other relays, Daniella Chavez, Lillie Minskoff, Joana Gutierrez, and Denise Analis placed fourth in the sprint medley relay (400, 200, 200, and 800) in 5:20.45, and Espinoza, Engstrom, Greene, and Minskoff placed sixth in the 4-by-400 in 4:38.44.

 

Wrestlers’ Results

Seven wrestlers on Jim Stewart’s revived East Hampton High School team placed in an invitational tournament at Copiague High over the weekend. Santi Maya won the 113-pound division; Kevin Coria was the 220-pound runner-up, and Caleb Peralta (126), Brahian Usma (145), Edwin Espinoza (170), Will Darrell (182), and Nick Lombardo (195) were fourth-place finishers.
