With four accomplished authors as contestants and a dream team of judges, this year's Literary Death Match at Guild Hall on July 7 promises bons mots aplenty and lots of quick and witty banter.The contestants -- Elna Baker, a producer for "This American Life"; Chimene Suleyman, a British poet; Sunil Yapa, an Asian-American Short Story Contest winner, and Dan Wilbur, the author of "How Not to Read" -- will face off by performing seven minutes of their most compelling writing. The contestants will compete in pairs, and the judges will give their comic critiques and announce the winners, who will try to up their games when they square off in a final.The three judges are Dick Cavett, Jena Friedman, and Rakesh Satyal. Mr. Cavett, a columnist and former talk show host, will assess "intangibles." Ms. Friedman, a comedian, writer, and producer for shows such as "The Late Show" and "The Daily Show," will rate performance, and Mr. Satyal will judge literary merit. The host and creator of the show is Adrian Todd Zuniga.The sparring begins at 8 p.m. Seating ranges from $32 to $65, with a $2 discount for museum members.
