A woman looking out the window of her place of business at 542 Montauk Highway on Election Day told police she saw a white late-model Toyota pull up, and a man get out and yank the building’s two-foot-square address sign out of the ground. Johanna Cardona said she ran outside and began screaming at the man, who got into the car and sped off. Police are investigating.

East Hampton

An Oakview Highway trailer park resident reported on Nov.

A woman accused of driving under the influence of oxycodone when she hit an East Hampton couple standing on the side of Sunrise Highway in August was arraigned Monday on elevated charges of vehicular assault. 

Ulyana Yaremko, 20, of Hampton Bays pleaded not guilty to the eight-count indictment before Justice Fernando Camacho in Suffolk County Criminal Court.

A Springs man told police on Halloween that at some point over the preceding two days, his handicapped parking placard had been stolen from his 1988 Ford Ranger. John Conner said he had been running errands, and was uncertain about where the car was when the card was stolen.

The owner of Consumer Tires on Railroad Avenue called police to the store on Saturday morning. A man had brought in his 2011 Ford pickup truck two days before to have its rear brakes changed.

Domestic disputes — between a mother and son, the parents of a child, and an estranged couple — were at the fore of East Hampton Town police investigations last week.

A 19-year-old who fled a crash near Deep Hollow Ranch in Montauk and stumbled in the dark for over three miles before police caught up with him was arraigned in East Hampton Town Justice Court last Thursday on multiple charges.

Most of the companies accused of noise or curfew violations at East Hampton Town Airport during the summer have agreed to pay $500 fines in a plea-bargaining arrangement adjudicated by Justice Steven Tekulsky in Justice Court on Monday.

Antonios Foskolos of Hedges Avenue was contacted on Oct. 24 by a Chase Bank officer, who wanted to know whether a card about to be opened in his name was legitimate. Mr. Foskolos told the bank it was not. A scammer apparently tried to use Mr. Foskolos’s name and address on an application, but made a mistake with other information. There was also an attempt to open a new account at Amazon.com. No money was stolen.

Earlier this month, the Chase account of an East Hampton woman, Sheryl Gold, was breached by someone who changed the email address on her account.

A 1997 Chevrolet Suburban headed toward Two Mile Hollow Beach Friday afternoon crashed into a parked 2014 Chevrolet pickup truck with enough force to propel it three spaces over.

Motor vehicle accidents led to four driving while intoxicated arrests by local police last week, while a county campaign against drunken driving netted two arrests overnight Saturday. All but one of those arrested were charged with misdemeanors.

To mark National Fire Prevention Week, the Bridgehampton Fire Department will host an open house on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to educate residents on the basics of fire safety.

A Montauk man arrested Sept. 30 after a routine traffic stop on the hamlet’s Main Street was indicted by a grand jury on drug trafficking charges last Thursday.

The Bridgehampton Fire District will not have to raise taxes in 2017 because its board of fire commissioners has agreed to tap into a reserve fund and shift some expenses around.

Peter Israel, who rented his house over the summer, told police that a woman he had hired to clean between rentals had been stealing various linens from the house. He did not want to press charges, but did want the situation documented.

A vandal armed with a BB gun damaged two storm windows on an Austin Road house sometime between Sept. 19 and Sept. 26. Alex Arango estimated the cost of replacement at $250.

East Hampton Town police were called to a Springs-Fireplace Road, Springs, house on the afternoon of Sept. 25 in response to a report of domestic violence.

A call to the police last Thursday afternoon from a driver who claimed he had been forced off the road by another vehicle ended with the caller in handcuffs, facing several charges including a felony.

A Hedges Lane man told police on Sept. 21 that he had received a call from a man claiming to be with the I.R.S. Daniel Michels said he was told he would be arrested unless he turned over certain personal information, which he began to do, but became suspicious when the caller began speaking in a rude manner. Mr.

At a little after midnight Saturday, East Hampton Town police received a call reporting “a body” lying on the large rock revetment that protects Montauk Point and the lighthouse.

Steven E. Skrynecki, the chief of the Nassau County Police Department, will be the next chief of the Southampton Town Police Department, while East Hampton Village Police Chief Gerard Larsen, who was one of the final candidates in the search, is staying put.

During a work session last Thursday, Southampton Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman announced that Chief Skrynecki, a Southampton Town homeowner, had accepted an offer, “which I’m thrilled about,” he said.

Stephanie Bayless got up from a ledge near the front of the Stephen Talkhouse early on the morning of Aug. 18 to take a photograph of the cigarette machine. When she went back, she told police, her Tiffany purse, containing $270 in cash and two debit cards, was gone.

Police were summoned to Liar’s Saloon early Saturday to quell a fight. Kathryn Walker told them she had asked a group to leave the bar because of unruly behavior and the use of profane language. Before leaving, one of them dumped a pitcher of beer on her head.

The operator of an illegal nightclub in the basement of a house at 7 Muir Boulevard in East Hampton has agreed to pay a $20,000 fine in exchange for the criminal case against him in East Hampton Town Justice Court being adjourned.

Bob Sisk, an East Hampton Town employee driving a town-owned 2004 Ford pickup truck on Springs-Fireplace Road near Queen’s Lane in East Hampton on Monday afternoon, crossed into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with a 2004 Mercedes-Benz driven by Lisa Brown of East Hampton.

East Hampton Town police were called to quell a disturbance near Liar’s Saloon in Montauk early Sunday but ended up having to subdue a neighboring resident. According to police, Christopher S. Verity, 23, took a fighting stance against four officers, allegedly striking and kicking all four.

Police subdued him and placed him in the back of a patrol car, where he allegedly began kicking and head-butting the right rear door, damaging it. A misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief was added to one of resisting arrest.

Police were called to the Indian Wells Beach parking lot on the morning of Sept. 4, where Steve Dallal of Scarsdale, N.Y., had gone for an hour’s walk, leaving his wallet in the door panel of his unlocked 2006 Mercedes Benz. When he returned at 8:15, the wallet, which held $300 and many credit and debit cards, was gone.

Todd Bennett told police that during the night of Aug. 27, someone entered his garage, opened the two refrigerators there, emptied them of their contents, including eggs, tomatoes, and lobsters, and smashed them on the floor.

The owner of one of the larger taxi companies in Montauk, Exclusive Taxi, was arrested the night of Sept. 6 on aggravated drunken driving charges after the cab he was operating, according to police, struck another car on Montauk Highway on Napeague, then sped off.

A Sag Harbor man, David Wisner, 42, accused by police of choking his girlfriend early Friday morning until she passed out, was arrested later that day on a felony charge of strangulation.
