Miller, Retired CopTommy Miller, a 12th-generation Bonacker who retired from the East Hampton Town Police Department in 2004 after 22 years on the force, was “part of the community in so many ways,” said Michael Sarlo, the department’s current chief. “He knew everyone and spent a great deal of time building relationships on the job. If we all got out of the patrol car and talked to people as much as he did, we’d all be better at our jobs,” said Mr. Sarlo.
