Effie Jane DeCristofaro “was always happy and always had a smile on her face,” her family wrote. “She loved flowers and to garden, but most of all, she loved her family.”
Mrs. DeCristofaro, who worked at the East Hampton Laundry on Race Lane and later did domestic work for many families here, died at home in Springs on Friday. She was 92 and had been in poor health.
She is survived by two daughters, Darlene Rigby and Mary Jane DeCristofaro, both of Springs, and by six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a sister, Fayette Parsons, who also lives in Springs. Her husband, Donald DeCristofaro, and son, Donald, died before her.
Mrs. DeCristofaro was born in Southampton on June 30, 1933, to Raymond Miller and the former Icydell Field. She grew up in Springs, attended the Springs School and East Hampton High School, and raised her own children in Springs.
The family held a private service on Tuesday at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in East Hampton. They have suggested memorial contributions to East End Hospice at eeh.org or P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach 11978.
