Disclaimer: Please find below a true and corrected obituary for Madeleine Potter. The obituary published on Sept. 10 included a factual error. This corrected version honors Madeleine’s life and legacy.

Paid Notice: Madeleine Penelope Potter (known by loved ones as Manon) was born in New York City on March 17, 1950, and died on August 24, 2026, at her home in Chiang Rai, Thailand, where she lived with her daughter, Caty, son-in-law, Niko, and grandchildren, Annie, Mataeyo, and Momo.

Manon lived most of her childhood and adulthood on Stony Hill Farm in Amagansett. She later moved to East Hampton with her former partner, Margaret Dunn.

As a child and teenager, Manon’s great loves were horses, especially her adored retired race horse, Blitz. She took enormous joy on chilly fall days in galloping Blitz through the woods and potato fields surrounding Stony Hill. In the summers, she was off through the trails to Louse Point or down to Indian Wells beach, something impossible today. She was quite the daredevil when on the back of a horse.

As an adult, Manon earned an R.N. degree from Pace University and worked at St. Vincent’s Hospital in New York City. During this time, she married Paul Dioguardi and they had two children, Pauli and Caty. Later in life, she moved back to Amagansett with her kids and sent them to the Amagansett School. Raising Pauli and Caty where she was raised, always filled her with immense joy.

Manon worked and volunteered with The Retreat in East Hampton. This work was something she took great pride in. Years later, she became an active member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. Both organizations were very important to her and she strongly believed in helping others.

Manon was predeceased by her father, Jeffrey B. Potter, and her mother, Penelope Potter Bradford. She is survived by her children, Pauli Dioguardi and Caty Sikelianos-Carter, her daughter-in-law, Penelope S. Dioguardi, and her son-in-law, Niko Sikelianos-Carter, in addition to her grandchildren, Annie Kanobdee, Mataeyo Dioguardi, Momo Dioguardi, and Anava Armer. Also surviving her are her brothers Job Potter and Horatio Potter, sister-in-law, Liz Potter, sister, Gayle Potter Basso, and many other relatives including, Janet Jennings, Cary Potter, Owen Potter Schwartz, Ben Potter, and Jeffrey Potter. Manon is deeply loved and will forever be greatly missed.
