Paid Notice: Elaine Leddy DeFalco, 93 of East Hampton passed away peacefully of natural causes at home on April 21st, the same day as the Pope.

A graveside service officiated by Father Ryan was held at Most Holy Trinity Cemetery on April 25.

Born on October 14, 1931 at Southampton Hospital.  Elaine was the daughter of long time East Hampton Village police chief Francis (Fritz) Leddy and Solviegh (Hanstvedt) Leddy.

On December 26, 1953 she married John J. DeFalco who predeceased her in 1986. She graduated from East Hampton High School and went to NYC to work for the F.B.I.

In the late ’60s & ’70s she worked as the assistant librarian at East Hampton High School and developed long lasting relationships with many of the students. Later she also worked at various retail stores in the area part time.

She loved to cook, entertain and watch all the different cooking shows.

She cherished the times she would spend with her grandchildren and family.

She leaves behind a sister, Linda Streck of Naples Florida, and a brother Michael Leddy of Perry Maine. A brother David Leddy predeceased her.

She is survived by three daughters: Pamela (Martin) Mahar of Amagansett, Cyndee (Bruce) Fehring of Kilauea, Kauai HI, and Maryann (Michael) Tracey of East Hampton. Also by eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and another on the way as well as three nieces and many cousins.

Her youngest granddaughter, Haley Tracey took on the role to be her grandmother’s loving caregiver.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband John and also by one granddaughter, a great grandson and a nephew.
