Thu, 07/08/2021 - 09:57

Joan Ann Anderson, a homemaker, died of cardiac arrest on June 4 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. The Amagansett native was 88.

She was a member of the Amagansett Presbyterian Church and loved being a homebody and focusing on her family, they said. Born in Amagansett on June 28, 1932, to Francis Lester and the former Alice Hansen, she grew up here and graduated from East Hampton High School. In 1953, she married John Anderson, and the couple brought up three children. Mr. Anderson died before her.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Lester of Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Cindy Graboski of Springs, a son, Todd Anderson of Hampton Bays, a brother, Jens Lester of Amagansett, seven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

A graveside service officiated by the Rev. Robert Stuart, pastor emeritus of the Amagansett Presbyterian Church, was held on June 10 at Oak Grove Cemetery in Amagansett.
