Shall We?

East Hampton

March 31, 2011

Dear David,

Nuclear power produces only 15 percent of the globe’s electricity. Is it really worth it? Reactors produce the most toxic waste products known to mankind. Is it really worth it?

Radiation is odorless and invisible, so you don’t know you are being poisoned unless the authorities monitoring it decide to tell you. The radiation levels in the water in Tokyo last week were too high for infants to safely drink it, denying the most vulnerable members of society an essential part of their diet. Is it really worth it? Getting serious about conserving our energy use will shut down reactors. Is it worth it?

Let’s put them out of business, shall we?

Peace,

TINA GUGLIELMO
