Dear Editor,

I just read the obituary of Helen Pugh of Montauk. I am remembering her kindness and her devotion to her community. I lived in Montauk from 1968 to 1998, and knew her to be a Good Samaritan who sat with and helped the sick, drove patients for chemo and radiation treatments or doctors’ appointments, arranged after-funeral gatherings for families. When there was a need, she was one of the first ones there to help.

I am sure that if there is a need in heaven, she is still on the job.
