East Hampton School District officials on Tuesday alerted parents to a new case of Covid-19 in a kindergarten student at the John M. Marshall Elementary School.

Tuesday's positive case is the fourth in the student body at John Marshall since the start of the school year. Neither the East Hampton Middle School nor East Hampton High School has had a positive case to date.

Students and staff in the class with the student who tested positive have been told to quarantine until Nov. 2. "All other students may report to school tomorrow," the district said in an announcement sent to parents on Tuesday afternoon.

Sag Harbor's Pierson High School, the Springs School, the Eleanor Whitmore Early Childhood Center in East Hampton, and the Southampton Intermediate and Elementary Schools have all reported cases among students. The Montauk School has had two staff members test positive.
