The Shelter Island 5K, a run and walk for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, will start on Saturday from Crescent Beach on a course that is certified by U.S.A. Track and Field (for those serious runners out there).

The race begins at 11 a.m. Registration is online at shelterislandfall5k.com and costs $45 in advance for adults and $25 for kids 12 and under. It rises to $50 and $30 on race day. Proceeds benefit organizations that support women on the East End who have breast and gynecologic cancers, including the North Fork Breast Health Coalition, the Coalition for Women’s Cancers at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital, and Lucia’s Angels.

Tickets will be available for a 50-50 raffle and a gift card raffle to benefit Lucia’s Angels, with the drawings to be held at a barbecue after the race.
