Talks Tackle Big Topics at LTV

Mon, 09/23/2024 - 10:23

The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island, and the North fork will host a free informational forum at LTV Studios in Wainscott on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to "explore the role of a trustworthy news media in a democracy and how to identify and combat" online misinformation and disinformation and the influence of artificial intelligence.

The forum, which aims to explore ways "to build trust in the 2024 election," will be led by the league's Andrea Gabor, a professor of business journalism at Baruch College. Two of her Baruch colleagues, Sonia Jarvis and Don Waisanen, will take part, as will Minerva Perez of the Organización Latino Americana and Bonnie Cannon of the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center.

Registration is on the LTV Studios website, and the forum will be available on the LTV YouTube channel.

On Thursday, the East Hampton Arts Council and the Artists Alliance of East Hampton will jointly host a copyright workshop titled "Cover Your Assets: Why Copyright Registration Matters, How to Use the Small Claims Copyright Forum, and Updates on A.I. for Creatives." Also taking place at LTV Studios at 75 Industrial Road, the workshop will run from 6 to 8 p.m., with a question-and-answer session and reception afterward.
