Town Will Honor Land Preservation Advocate

Mon, 08/26/2024 - 08:35

East Hampton Town will honor Nancy Kelley, a longtime advocate for land preservation and stewardship, with a plaque dedication ceremony at the Nancy Kelley Nature Preserve on Monday morning.

Ms. Kelley, who died in August 2021, served as president of the Group for the South Fork and as director of the Shelter Island and South Fork Chapter of the Nature Conservancy during her four-decade career of environmental advocacy. Her focus was on land preservation efforts and the conservation of open space.

The 5.64-acre preserve, which adjoins the Nature Conservancy's Merrill Lake Sanctuary, was named for her in October 2021. The public is invited to attend the dedication ceremony, which will take place at 10 a.m. at 880 Springs Fireplace Road.
