The Clamshell Foundation’s 32nd annual Sandcastle Contest happens on Saturday at Atlantic Avenue Beach. All ages and levels have been invited to compete. Registration is $10 per group, with a limit of six per group, and starts at the tent on the beach at 10 a.m. Final judging is at 3 p.m. Those interested in volunteering can email [email protected].

The East Hampton Trails Preservation Society and East Hampton Historical Society will co-host a two-mile-plus walk at Lazy Point including a post-walk tour of the D’Amico Studio and Archives with Chris Kohan, its executive director, on Saturday at 10 a.m. The meeting place is 128 Shore Road. The walk is $12, free for members of either society. Registration is required at either society’s website. Irwin Levy can be contacted at 516-456-1337 or [email protected] for additional information.

The Amagansett Village Improvement Society will hold its annual Summer Splash party and fund-raiser on Saturday from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the hamlet's South Fork Country Club. Included will be passed hors d'oeuvres and an open bar, a photo booth, an auction featuring food and wine, golf outings, items for the house and garden, tickets to sporting events, and an array of other offerings. A D.J. will be on hand to keep the dance floor full.

This year's decorations are meant to evoke a summer sunset, with shimmering yellows, pinks, and oranges. The yearly party is a friendly and festive one, organizers said, a celebration of Amagansett and a thank-you to the improvement society for keeping the hamlet beautiful since 1921.Tickets cost $125 and are available at keepamagansettbeautiful.com, at Amagansett Wine and Spirits on Main Street, and at the door.

Time to Strip, Dip, Freeze

Polar plunges at Main Beach in East Hampton and Beach Lane in Wainscott on New Year’s Day accomplish many things: bracing and exhilarating starts to the year, the company of many hundreds of friends and fellow townspeople, and a chance to secure bragging rights that extend well into 2026. But most important, each serves as a critical fund-raiser for food pantries.

That led her to create Hamptons Community Outreach, which is dedicated to meeting basic critical needs to help break cycles of poverty.
