Discounts on Smart Thermostats for PSEG Customers

Mon, 04/17/2023 - 14:31

In a promotion that will run through July 10, PSEG Long Island and Google have partnered to offer customers a Google Nest thermostat at a 93-percent discount.

Customers can go to PSEG Long Island’s Energy Efficiency Marketplace to get a Google Nest thermostat for $9.99. The thermostat's regular retail price is $129.99. The order must be placed by the customer whose name is associated with the account. Qualifying residential customer accounts are limited to one smart thermostat, and the customer is responsible for applicable sales tax and shipping charges.

The Nest Thermostat is compatible with the Google Home app, which allows users to schedule and control the residence's temperature remotely. It monitors a building's HVAC system to ensure heating and cooling are running smoothly, and can send an alert if something seems amiss. It also provides suggestions for routine maintenance and reminders such as when air filters should be replaced.

According to the United States Energy Information Administration, around half of a typical residential customer's utility costs go toward heating and cooling. Smart thermostats allow customers to create a heating and cooling schedule from their smart device that can help them save money and reduce energy demand.

Since then, a “hometown side project” has developed into Circuit, an all-electric, on-demand “micro-transit” solution in more than 40 cities and towns.
