Road Work Ahead in East Hampton Village

Fri, 01/21/2022 - 14:37

Starting Monday, National Grid will be installing a new gas main on Route 27, a.k.a. Main Street, between Woods Lane and Huntting Lane in East Hampton Village.

Work will take place in the shoulders of the road between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays, with lane closures expected in some areas between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The installation and related road restoration are expected to be done by the end of June, weather permitting, according to the State Department of Transportation.

According to Dave Collins, East Hampton's superintendent of public works, the village was notified about the road work only 16 days ago by Keyspan and the D.O.T.

Mayor Jerry Larsen said during Friday's village board meeting that "it's a state road. The village has no real say in this. It's not the village who is doing this work."
