Update, Nov. 8: Tuesday's community dinner at the East Hampton Firehouse has been canceled, but the remainder of the dates remain in place, according to Fire Department Chief Duane Forrester.

Originally: The first of five free community dinners at the East Hampton Firehouse will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. The others will be Dec. 13, Jan. 10, Feb. 21, and March 14. Entry is in the rear of the building, off the village parking lot at 1 Cedar Street. "Everyone welcome," the fire department notes in its announcement.

The fire department has also mailed an appeal letter to residents soliciting donations for the 2023 Main Beach fireworks. This year's show was on Aug. 20; Chief Duane Forrester called it "the best ever." Donations in any amount can be sent to the department at 1 Cedar Street, East Hampton 11937.
