The East Hampton Library's budget vote will be held on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is open to registered voters from the East Hampton, Springs, and Wainscott School Districts.

About 10 spending areas would change in a "yes" vote, totaling just under $168,000. The bulk of the increase, $96,000, is for next year's Authors Night fund-raiser. Otherwise, $25,000 would be added to programs for children and adults, including computer classes, lectures, reading clubs, and a summer kids' fair. Staff costs would rise about $20,000. The library's scholarship program would get a $2,000 boost, to $12,000.

There was no library tax increase in 2020, and programs and improvements there are frequently off-set by donations from community members. More information can be had by calling the library at 631-324-0222, extension 7, or by sending an email to Dennis Fabiszak, the director, at [email protected].
