Shoeboxes Full of Holiday Cheer

Tue, 11/30/2021 - 10:08

The Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreational Center announced this week it is seeking donations of shoeboxes filled with holiday gifts for girls and boys in the community.

Shoeboxes should contain a couple of small or medium-sized toys, like stuffed animals, balls, dolls, or action figures; educational or creative supplies such as books, workbooks, crayons, paints, and colored pencils; and personal items such as socks, gloves, hats, toothbrushes, combs, or reusable water bottles. Donors should also include a personal note to the recipient, and can include a family photo as well.

Boxes should fit into one of three age ranges: 2 to 4, 5 to 9, or 10 to 14. No liquids, glass items, or items containing choking hazards will be accepted. Packages should be decorated in green for girls, red for boys. They can be dropped off Tuesdays through Fridays between noon and 5 p.m. at the center, 551 Bridgehampton-Sag Harbor Turnpike, through Dec. 22.

The center is also accepting monetary donations for its holiday programs, for which more information can be found online at bhccrc.org.
