Those who wish to get in some outdoor recreation or compete for a cause in Montauk have a few opportunities coming up to do just that.

The Dock restaurant is having its annual Closing Run on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The 3.3-mile course begins at the Montauk Post Office and ends at the Dock. Registration will be at the post office before the race. There will be raffles with locally donated items and a 50-50 cash prize. An entry fee of $25 includes a T-shirt and a beer. All proceeds will benefit the Montauk Community Senior Nutrition Center. Walkers will be welcomed, unicycles will not, the organizers said. Last year, during the pandemic, nearly $12,000 was raised for the center.

Laurie Devito of the East Hampton Trails Preservation Society will lead a moderately paced 3.5-mile hike around Fresh Pond at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The meeting place is the Hither Hills west overlook, off Route 27, one mile east of the Old Montauk Highway-Montauk Highway split. Ms. Devito can be reached at 631-813-6988.

Registration is open at itsyourrace.com for the 45th annual Run for Fun Turkey Day race, on Thanksgiving Day starting at 10 a.m. The cost is $13.25 per contestant. There will be no registration on site, and online registration will close at 7 a.m. the day of the race. Bib pickup will be Thanksgiving morning. Those taking part that day must show proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test within 48 hours prior to the race. Proceeds and any donations will go to the Montauk Food Pantry, the East Hampton Food Pantry, the Springs Food Pantry, and Meals on Wheels.
