Safely Discard Pollutants During STOP Day on Saturday

Mon, 11/01/2021 - 14:15

On Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., East Hampton Town residents can take hazardous household materials like paint thinners, drain cleaners, antifreeze, and pesticides to the Montauk recycling and waste transfer station for safe disposal on STOP Day.

STOP Day, which stands for "stop throwing out pollutants," is an effort to prevent hazardous materials from contaminating the environment. Such disposal days are held periodically in East Hampton Town and elsewhere. In a release, the town encouraged people to help "protect the integrity of our fragile ecosystem."

The transfer station is at 365 Montauk Highway in Montauk.
