Score ‘20-20’ for High School Seniors

Fri, 05/01/2020 - 09:20

Joe Vas, the East Hampton School District's athletic director, Mike Miller, the Bridgehampton School's principal, and Eric Bramoff, the Sag Harbor School District's athletic director, sent out emails this week saying that the three high schools will participate in an Islandwide tribute to high school seniors Friday at 8:20 p.m. (20:20 military time).

In Bridgehampton, according to Mr. Miller, there is to be a small parade led by the Bridgehampton Fire Department followed by students in vehicles. Mr. Miller asked that families step outside their houses as the fire trucks pass by to "cheer the seniors on."

In East Hampton, the school's Long Lane sign and the turf field's scoreboard are to be lit up from 8:20 to 8:40 p.m. The sign is to say, "Love You Class of 2020." The scoreboard is to read: Home-20; Guest-20.

In Sag Harbor, Pierson Middle and High School will also light up its scoreboard with all 20s at 8:20 p.m. It will be visible from the Montauk Avenue parking lot. "You will be able to drive around the school in a clockwise manner to view the scoreboard from the Montauk Avenue parking Lot. We request that everyone practice social distancing and remain in your cars," Mr. Bramoff said in an email.
