The East Hampton Town Board passed a resolution last Thursday to hold a public hearing on July 3 on a planned $16 million community preservation fund acquisition at 43 Mile Hill Road in the Northwest area of East Hampton.

The 9.35-acre property, owned by 43 Mile Hill L.L.C., is zoned residential, includes nearly 750 feet of beachfront and a pond, and was last listed on the real estate website zillow.com, in 2022, for $25 million.

The property abuts the shoreline of Northwest Harbor County Park and is surrounded by reserve. According to Jaine Mehring’s build.in.kind_easthampton Instagram account (Ms. Mehring is a member of the East Hampton Town Zoning Board of Appeals), in 2012 the owner received permits for over 10,000 square feet of structures on the parcel.

The town received its second largest influx into the C.P.F. this winter, with a check for over $7 million. The last time it took in so much money at once was during the Covid era.
