Hahn Has Campaign Chest

Thu, 10/21/2021 - 11:02

Suffolk County Legislator Kara Hahn has announced that she raised more than $200,000 in the third quarter for her campaign for the Democratic Party’s nomination to represent New York’s First Congressional District.

Ms. Hahn’s fund-raising total “was overwhelmingly fueled by individual grassroots donors giving $100 or less,” according to a statement from her campaign, with a majority of contributions from donors living in the congressional district. She has now raised more than $450,000, according to the campaign.

Ms. Hahn, of the Fifth Legislative District, has won the endorsement of Nancy Goroff, the Democrats’ 2020 nominee, and former Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst, the party’s 2016 nominee. Both lost to Representative Lee Zeldin by a wide margin. John Atkinson, a former candidate for the Democratic Party’s 2022 nomination, has also endorsed Ms. Hahn’s candidacy.

Mr. Zeldin is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination for governor of New York State. Robert M. Cornicelli is seeking the Republican Party’s nomination to represent the First Congressional District. On the Democrats’ side, Suffolk Legislator Bridget Fleming is also campaigning for the nomination
