For Trustee: Reginald Cornelia (R, C)

Thu, 10/21/2021 - 13:20

If elected trustee, Reg Cornelia, a 25-year member of the Springs Citizens Advisory Committee and former chairman of the East Hampton Town Republican Committee, said he would address three priorities: promoting and defending beach access, dredging harbors such as Napeague and Accabonac, and averting any harm that he feels the South Fork Wind Farm may ultimately bring.

Mr. Cornelia once owned the Promised Land Fishing Station on Lazy Point, selling it in 1991. He served two years in the Army and has also worked in the real estate and education fields. He is a member of the town’s nature preserve committee and a past member of the Springs School Board. An enthusiastic fisherman, kayaker, and boater, he said his favorite fish is the striped bass.

Mr. Cornelia says he hopes to bring a new perspective to the trustees as a Republican. “I’ve maintained my integrity, and I think I’m forthright and honest,” he said. “Even though I’m not a native, I have a pretty good level of knowledge, history, and traditions. The trustees are supposed to be the people who keep us in touch with our past in order to guide us to the future.”
