Family Fair
Saturday is the day for the Children’s Museum of the East End’s Family Fair in Bridgehampton, a fund-raiser that helps keep the museum’s programming lively all year long, supports its food pantry, and provides camp scholarships. From 9:30 a.m. to noon, it will include arts and crafts, live entertainment, food trucks, and water fun with an “Endless Summer” theme. Tickets start at $150 and can be bought through the museum’s website.
Tickets for Ms. Lauryn Hill
Looking ahead to Saturday, July 25, the East Hampton Library has been given 35 tickets to Ms. Lauryn Hill’s concert at the Clubhouse in Wainscott to give out to local teens. Ms. Hill, a Grammy-winning musician who was the frontwoman of the Fugees before beginning her solo career, has collaborated with artists including Nas, Celia Cruz, and Wyclef Jean. Tickets are first come first served through the library. Doors will open at 4 p.m. for the show; the music begins at 6. There will be no parking available at the Clubhouse.
Movie Time
There are free movies galore this week for kids and teens. First, high schoolers who either can’t get enough of the “Avengers” movies or have yet to see them are in luck on Saturday, when the East Hampton Library holds an all-day marathon of the Marvel franchise between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, HamptonsFilm will host an outdoor screening of the classic 1990 Christmas film “Home Alone” in Herrick Park. Admission is free, but reservations at hamptonsfilmfest.org will allow the organizers to get the word out if there are schedule changes. The movie will start after sunset, around 8:15. People should take their own chairs or blankets.
On Friday, July 24, the Amagansett Library will show “Frozen,” the sing-along edition, at 2 p.m. Registration is through the website.
Nature and Art
The Bridgehampton Museum and the Water Mill Museum are collaborating to offer a weeklong natural history and art program for kids ages 9 to 12 starting on Monday with Stacy Myers as educator. In sessions through Friday, July 24, participants “will serve as both field scientists and studio artists, using the unique natural history of Mecox Bay as their core inspiration,” according to the museums. They’ll conduct water testing, examine insect anatomy, and study native aquatic insects, then use those observations as the basis for creative projects.
The program runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day. The cost is $225 for the week; registration is through the Bridgehampton Museum.
Story Pirates at Guild Hall
The Story Pirates will bring their music and interactive sketch comedy to Guild Hall on Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. in the next installment of this summer’s KidFest series. “The Story Pirates believe that all kids are creative geniuses, and they’re ready to prove it with their fast-paced, hilarious, and inspiring show for the whole family,” reads an announcement. The group should be familiar to fans from their award-winning podcast, which turns kids’ stories into sketches and has welcomed celebrity guests such as Lin-Manuel Miranda and Kristen Bell.
A free cookie-decorating workshop with Citarella will precede the show. Tickets cost $35, with discounts available for members. Advance purchase is a must, as KidFest performances often sell out.
