Drip Painting in the Garden

The pollinator garden at the East Hampton Town Hall campus will be the inspiration for a drip-painting workshop with Joyce Raimondo on Saturday at 11 a.m. The free workshop is open to children 5 and up accompanied by an adult. Registration is by emailing [email protected]

While children are painting, adults can take a tour of the garden, including a new native pollinator grassland meadow created by ChangeHampton, and “learn about the plants, processes, and tools we offer to transform your lawn into a healthy environment,” the group says on its website.

Kids on the Case

At the Montauk Library on Saturday, kids will become “crime scene” investigators. Starting at 11 a.m., they’ll work in teams to crack the case of the missing Madagascar hissing roaches in this program for fifth graders and up that comes to the library courtesy of the Long Island Science Center. Participants will use fingerprinting, chromatography, and other techniques to follow the clues. Registration with the library is required.

Busy Week in East Hampton

Young adult and children’s activities kick into high gear at the East Hampton Library this week with programs to please the palate, spark creativity, calm stress, and challenge the reflexes.

Friday at 3:30 in the young-adult room, high schoolers can drop in to make chocolate milkshakes, and on Monday at 4 it’s the Universal Yums Taste Test, this time with a chance to try snacks from Indonesia. Also for high school kids, a therapy dog will visit on Tuesday at 4 p.m., and there’s pizza and Pictionary on the schedule next Thursday at 4:30 p.m. Those 18 or about to be can register or preregister to vote on Tuesday starting at 3:30 p.m. in the Y.A. room.

A Ping-Pong party with snacks and music is on tap for grades six to eight on Saturday afternoon at 3:45.

For younger children, Wednesday brings a tissue paper flower craft for ages 3 to 6 at 4 p.m., and next Thursday it’s masking tape mixed-media art for ages 5 to 11, also at 4. Registration for most programs is through the library’s calendar page.
