Pieces of Peace

What does peace mean to you? The CITYarts Pieces for Peace project put that question to young people around the world and had them create art in response. Some of those works can be seen at the Children’s Museum of the East End in Bridgehampton on Saturday, when kids 8 to 12 can also make their own Piece for Peace in a program that runs from 10 a.m. to noon and is free with museum admission.

For Young Birders

Across the road, the South Fork Natural History Museum has invited young birders ages 8 to 18 to meet up at 10 on Saturday for a morning of birding led by Aidan Perkins, a wildlife biologist. Those who have binoculars should take them. There is no cost to attend, but advance registration is required.

Therapy Dog for Teens

Food, fun, and furry friends are on tap for kids and teens at the East Hampton Library this week. For high schoolers, a therapy dog will visit the young-adult room on Monday at 3:30 p.m., and on Tuesday they can earn community service hours by stopping in at the library’s podcast club at 4 p.m.

For younger children, there will be a turkey story and craft time on Wednesday afternoon at 4 for ages 3 to 6, and a chance for those 7 to 11 to decorate maple leaf cookies and doughnut holes next Thursday at 4. Registration ahead of time is requested for all programs.
