The Music Man Is on His Way

The latest black-box-style production from South Fork Performing Arts is “The Music Man Jr.,” an adaptation of the classic musical for young performers. The story concerns a man who tries to scam a small Midwestern town into buying musical instruments and lessons from him, intending to skip town when it comes time to make music — until romance intervenes.

The South Fork production includes students from East Hampton Middle School, Springs School, Sag Harbor Elementary School, the Ross School, Our Lady of the Hamptons, and New York City schools. It “features some of musical theater’s most iconic songs and a story filled with wit, warmth, and good old-fashioned romance,” according to a release.

Tamara Salkin directs, Amanda Jones is the musical director, and Megan Callahan is the choreographer. Show times are tomorrow at 7 p.m., Saturday at 2 and 7, and Sunday at 7 at LTV Studios, 75 Industrial Road in Wainscott. The show runs 90 minutes, including an intermission. Tickets cost $25 and can be bought at southforkperformingarts.org.
