Parrish Highlights Young Artists

“A vibrant display of student artwork from regional schools and our community” will be on view at the Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill through April 7. More than 1,000 students have pieces in the show — the museum’s 70th such exhibition — demonstrating their “creativity, enthusiasm, and technical skill in media ranging from painting to sculpture, drawing, and photography.”

In addition to the work they did in art classrooms and after-school clubs, the kids had help from three professional visiting artists, Hiroyuki Hamada, Brianna L. Hernandez, and Virva Hinnemo, in a program titled How Artists Work. The exhibition can be viewed during the museum’s normal operating hours, with regular admission when applicable.

There will also be a family-friendly open studio session at the museum on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Advance registration is not required. On Sunday, also from 11 to 12:30, Ms. Hernandez will lead a family workshop. It’s free, but participants should sign up ahead of time; links to do so are at parrishart.org/calendar.
