Santa Claus Is Coming to Town

Ho, ho, ho! Santa Claus will ride into Sag Harbor on a fire truck on Friday. From 4 to 6 p.m. there will be socially distant visits and photo ops on Main Street, accompanied by holiday music broadcast by WLNG radio.

Santa will be also arriving by fire truck at the Montauk Fire Department on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., and children will receive a stocking full of candies and toys, to be handed out by his helpers. Because of Covid-19 there will be no sitting on his chair.

Children who want to make sure Santa has their holiday wish lists can drop off letters in a special red mailbox on Main Street next to the Municipal Building, or in East Hampton Village on Newtown Lane near the Scoop du Jour ice cream shop.

Family Art Workshop

The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill is offering a one-day collage and assemblage workshop for families on Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. Each family will have its own workspace area. The cost is $5 for children, $10 for adults, or $5 for adult members. Registration is limited so proper social distancing can be maintained. Sign-up is online at parrishart.org/education/childrens-programs.

Library 101

For teens who have questions about how to use resources such as a library card or free tutoring, the East Hampton Library is offering an online introduction with its young-adult librarians. The session will take place on Monday from 5 to 7 p.m., and sign-up is at easthamptonlibrary.org.

A food drive is underway all month long at the library. Teens can give back to the community by dropping off donations of nonperishable foods in the young-adult room on the lower level.

Online Story Time

Winter wonderland is the theme of December's online storytelling for young children at the John Jermain Memorial Library in Sag Harbor. The fun starts at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday this month, except for Dec. 22, and sign-up is at johnjermain.org.

Easy Crafts for Kids

The Montauk Library has a few online crafting videos for kids and teens, who can make easy gnome ornaments or learn how to upcycle unwanted T-shirts into other projects with tutorials online at montauklibrary.org.
