Bedtime Stories

The Southampton Arts Center will help kids get ready for bedtime with stories on Zoom on Sunday. Mickey Paraskevas, a Southampton resident and writer of "Maggie and the Ferocious Beast," "Mr. Moon," and others, will read his tales at 7:30. The event is free and registration is by visiting the events calendar at southamptonartscenter.org.

Glittery and Bouncy

Project Most has workshops on Saturday for children in three different age groups. For the 3 and 4 year olds, there will be a glittery, swirling sensory bottle activity from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. At noon, for children in kindergarten through the third grade, there will be a workshop on making your own high-bounce balls. The same workshop will be given for kids in fourth through sixth grades at 1:30 p.m. The classes are $20 each or $15 for members. Attendance is very limited, so advance sign-up is required and can be accomplished by emailing [email protected].

Also from Project Most, a hands-on activity series for children ages 3 and 4 begins Tuesday at the East Hampton Neighborhood House. Sessions run from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays through Dec. 22. The cost is $300 and advance registration is required.

For Pie-Loving Teens

In its next teen photo contest, the East Hampton Library is seeking pie-related photos for a chance to win a $50 Breadzilla gift card. Whether they capture baking a pie — or sharing, eating, or throwing a pie — high school students can enter by sending the picture by email before 4 p.m. on Friday only to [email protected]. Emails must include name, school, and grade.

Ever heard of kirigami? It’s the Japanese art of paper-cutting, bearing similarities to origami, which is paper-folding. No glue required! The East Hampton Library is offering a take-and-make lesson on kirigami for teens this week. Kits will be available for pickup at the library Friday and on Dec. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Trivia and Tales

Friday is online teen trivia night with the John Jermain Memorial Library, from 6 to 7 p.m. for kids in grades six through 12.

The John Jermain library is also offering virtual creative writing sessions for kids in which they will be given writing prompts to let their imaginations soar on paper. The free weekly activity is Tuesday at 11:30 a.m., though there will be no session on Dec. 22. A teen version of creative writing is on Thursdays at 7 p.m. for kids in grades eight through 12.

Registration for all of the library’s programs is online at johnjermain.org.
