By Monday morning, South Fork school districts had reported three more cases of Covid-19 diagnosed since Friday. The affected districts are Montauk, Sag Harbor, and East Hampton.

In East Hampton, a John M. Marshall Elementary School fourth grader has the virus, according to an email from the school sent on Monday. It is the seventh case over all at the school. The district has now had at least 15 cases, including several students who tested positive after a recent out-of-school social gathering.

As for the most recent case, "The parents/guardians of this particular cohort are being notified by phone today," Russell Morgan, John Marshall's assistant principal, said in the email. "At this time, per our own school investigation and preliminary Department of Health investigation, all the students in this cohort will quarantine today, Monday, Nov. 9. As soon as we hear from the Suffolk County Department of Health, we will notify all elementary school staff and parents/guardians with further information on how we will move forward."

Charles Soriano, principal of the East Hampton Middle School, on Tuesday notified families by email that the middle school has now had its first case of Covid-19 this school year, affecting a seventh-grade student. No one needs to quarantine, he said.

"The student was not present in school during the infectious period," Dr. Soriano said.

The Montauk School has quarantined one of its second-grade classes, including two teachers and an unspecified number of students, after one child in that grade tested positive for Covid-19 within the last few days. "Everyone else cleared," Jack Perna, the superintendent, said by email on Monday.

The Montauk School previously had two staff members test positive.

In Sag Harbor, a staff member tested positive on Saturday, causing the school district to close "out of an abundance of caution" on Monday. Remote lessons are underway in that district. It is the second case in the district, which reported its first -- in a student -- in October.

"The school district immediately contacted the Suffolk County Department of Health and they are currently conducting contact tracing," Jeff Nichols, the Sag Harbor superintendent, said in a statement.

On Monday afternoon, he said the Health Department cleared the Sag Harbor School District to reopen on Tuesday.

The Ross School has also had a new case of Covid-19. The school announced Sunday that a teacher had tested positive late on Friday, but said the school was advised by the Health Department that no closure was necessary. Only one other person, a staff member, will need to quarantine, the school said.
