State Lawmakers Not Ready to Support Hither Woods Sewage Plant

When it comes to East Hampton Town's proposal to swap land it owns elsewhere for Hither Woods parkland in order to build a wastewater treatment plant, Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. and State Senator Anthony Palumbo will “take no action regarding sponsorship of park alienation legislation” until the town has undertaken a full state environmental quality review act analysis, Mr. Thiele wrote this week.

Thiele Says Stony Brook Is Neglecting Southampton Campus

Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr. has put Stony Brook University’s administration on notice for what he alleges is years of neglect of its Southampton campus. Last week, he called for Stony Brook to commit to renovating the crumbling Southampton Hall, develop a five-year plan for the rest of the campus, and appoint a senior administrator dedicated to overseeing it all.
