Lexus, Equipment Vanish

A Brooklyn couple reported their 2001 Lexus RX 350 stolen from their driveway in Montauk on Friday.

Jacqueline E. Mosca-Zarodkiewicz and her husband, Joseph Zarodkiewicz, told East Hampton Town police that their gray Lexus was missing when they returned to their house on Soundview Drive at about 5 p.m. They last saw it on June 16 at about 7 p.m., parked in the driveway.

An officer spoke to a caretaker for the property, who said he had checked the house on June 19 at about 1 p.m. and the sport utility vehicle was not there. He thought the couple had driven it back to Brooklyn, he said.

Police have distributed a lookout alert for the Lexus to neighboring agencies.

East Hampton Village detectives are investigating the theft of more than $5,000 worth of construction equipment from a trailer at a work site on Woods Lane. Last Thursday morning, police were called to the property at 7:40, when it was discovered by workers that a chain on the front gate and a lock on the trailer had been cut.

The window of a vehicle that was parked on the property had been damaged with a rock, police said, and a PODS (Portable Storage on Demand) container, which held the homeowner’s belongings, was broken into as well, though the report said it was not known if anything was missing.

Detective Lt. Tony Long declined to comment further, citing an ongoing investigation
